Artful Audit is built for documents you cannot afford to mishandle: unpublished research, chapters, grant applications, and policy drafts. Here, in plain English, is what happens to your file and how we protect it.

What happens to your document

1. Upload. Your document is uploaded over an encrypted connection into your private account.
2. Store. It is held in private, access-controlled storage, used only to prepare your audit.
3. Audit. It is analysed by our automated audit engine to produce your report.
4. Deliver. Your report is delivered to your private account for download.
5. Retain or delete. Your document and report are retained for {{RETENTION_PERIOD}}, after which they are deleted automatically. You can request deletion sooner at any time.

No human reads your document

Your audit is produced by automated analysis. No member of staff reads your document as part of the audit. The report is generated and self-checked by the engine, then delivered to you.

In plain terms: the people behind Artful Audit do not sit and read your unpublished work. The only routine access to your file is automated. We may access stored files in narrow, exceptional circumstances (for example, to investigate a technical fault or a security incident, or where we are legally required to), and our staff are bound by confidentiality. We will never use your document to train AI models.

No model training on your document

Your document is processed through a third-party AI provider (see our sub-processor list) under a contract that prohibits using your content to train their models. Your work is used to produce your report and nothing else.

Controlled access and security

• Documents are stored in private, access-controlled storage and encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Access to production systems is restricted and protected by two-factor authentication.
• We hold only the data we need to run the service.

Storage, retention, and deletion

• Documents and reports are retained for {{RETENTION_PERIOD}} and then deleted automatically.
• You can request deletion at any time from your account; deletion removes the stored file and any derived copies, not just its listing.

Payment security

Payments are handled by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not see or store your full card details.

Where your data is processed

Artful Audit is operated from the UK. Some of the services we rely on process data outside the UK and EU. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses / the UK International Data Transfer Addendum). We pin data residency to UK/EU regions where the provider allows. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and sub-processor list.
